A) Playground Committee: by Monica and Linda, had complete update
MELS Grant: 25,000$ by prov. Gov’t, 25,000$ by school board, 20,000$ by Zodiac and 5,000$ by h&S
This project must be completed by end of June
Give & Grow: 20,000$ by Zodiac Aerospace , approx. 50 employees to come to school to do various projects (painting murals, building a junior side play structure)
May 3rd will be build day- volunteers will be needed to organize the event
500$needed from h&S to host the build day( pizza, drinks). All present voted in favour.
Discussion about reveal day during end of year BBQ to show all the developments in the backyard. Vendors, Zodiac Aerospace would be invited to say thank you
Outdoor classroom: Several meetings held. Reveal day is June 7th.
B) Teacher Appreciation Update: Jules absent gave report to Annie
Mon. & Thurs baked goods to be sent in
Tuesday smoothies to be made for staff
Wed pizza lunch for staff
Fri luncheon and raffle to be held
C) Art Gala: Heidi
All volunteers have been given their tasks
April 2 art should be collected
Want to buy matting for art, need to find out what size matting teachers need
Proceeds of Art Gala to go towards Literacy Fund
Need to collect in total 35,000$ for literacy program
Literacy Program: classroom libraries need to be updated. Sets of level books will be set up in room where teachers can sign them out
Will contain French and English books
April 3rd first Art Gala meeting
Theme “Light up your Life”
Need many extension cords
Seeking trio of musicians ( ? St. Thomas, McGill)
Olana working on invitations
Teachers will be making lanterns
Daycare will also make lanterns to decorate
D) Ms. Pyves
Junkyard symphony to come to school in April- consumable fees will be used
Half Pints will come to school March 29th will cost more than 1000$. Asking H&S to pay ½ the cost
Annie to inform Jules of this and Jules and Allyson can decide depending on funds in account
